We are a US-based startup actively looking for a Backend Engineer to join our growing development team. This is a fully remote position, but candidates must be able to work in the Indian timezone (IST) .
We are seeking engineers who are available to start immediately in terms of both their current obligations and have the technical expertise to fully succeed in this role.
Required Skills:
Backend Development:
- Node.js : Expert-level knowledge in Node.js with at least 3+ years of experience in building high-performance applications.
- Express.js : Deep understanding of Express.js framework for building REST APIs.
- JavaScript (ES6+): Proficiency in modern JavaScript features and asynchronous programming (promises, async/await).
Database Management:
- PostgreSQL : 3+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including query optimization, transaction management, and schema design for high-traffic applications.
Caching and Message Queues:
- Redis : Strong experience in leveraging Redis for caching, session management, and pub/sub models. Proven ability to handle high read/write loads.
- Message Queues : Experience with message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) and building event-driven systems.
Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment:
- AWS : Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.), including setting up scalable infrastructure.
- Docker : Practical knowledge of Docker for containerization.
- Kubernetes : Familiarity with Kubernetes for container orchestration and managing microservices.
SaaS Development:
- Proven track record of building and maintaining multi-tenant SaaS applications with a strong understanding of data isolation, scalability, and security best practices.
Code Quality & Architecture:
- Passionate about clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles and best practices, including SOLID principles, and building modular and extensible systems.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Excellent communication skills, especially in written form, as our team operates with asynchronous communication.
- Ability to document processes, APIs, and architectural decisions clearly and concisely.
Agile/Scrum Principles:
- Participate in Agile-based ceremonies like daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.
- Has strong cross-collaborative skills and knows how to work within a Scrum environment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, front-end) in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality, scalable backend solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while adhering to Scrum methodologies and timelines.
- Contribute to backlog grooming and sprint prioritization by providing estimates and technical input during sprint planning.

- Location : Fully remote, but requires availability to work in the Indian timezone (IST).

- The compensation will be structured as a contractor agreement since we do not have an Indian entity.
Interview Process:
Our interview process is focused on real-world scenarios:
- You will work through practical coding assessments to demonstrate your technical expertise.
- We prioritize practical, real-world challenges over abstract algorithmic tests, so be prepared to discuss previous projects, design decisions, and architectural challenges.
- You'll be tested on fundamentals.
- In addition, we will also have a culture fit interview with our Agile Product Manager to evaluate cross-collaboration within our development teams.
