Laboratory Instructor

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with academic staff to plan timetables, discuss equipment needs, and align on work plans.
• Conduct trial runs of experiments prior to lessons and demonstrate techniques during class sessions.
• Prepare materials, equipment, and chemicals in advance of practical lessons.
• Maintain, calibrate, and repair laboratory equipment and apparatus as needed.
• Keep accurate records of student practical sessions, including methods used and results obtained.
• Ensure proper cleaning and safe storage of equipment, chemicals, and materials.
• Maintain a catalogue of audio-visual and technical resources and provide access as required.
• Support teaching staff during practical sessions and provide technical guidance to both staff and students.
• Assist individual students with their research projects and provide technical support.
• Oversee inventory and stock control for chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and promote safe practices in the laboratory.
• Coordinate laboratory operations to maximize the efficient use of resources and specialized equipment.
