Role Summary
We’re seeking a skilled Production Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing, scaling, and maintaining our production infrastructure and systems. This role combines elements of software and systems engineering, requiring a deep understanding of Kubernetes in EKS , DevOps practices , and hands-on expertise in building microservices and APIs . As a Production Engineer at Bolo AI, you will work cross-functionally with teams to ensure our services are reliable, scalable, and maintainable in production. You’ll tackle complex live production issues, supporting systems that impact thousands of users in real time.
Responsibilities
Ensure System Reliability : Develop a deep understanding of our services and codebases, ensuring high availability and scalability of all production systems.
Develop and Maintain Infrastructure : Architect and manage Kubernetes clusters in AWS EKS, optimizing for performance, cost, and security.
Enhance DevOps Pipelines : Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and support automated deployments.
Microservices Development : Design, develop, and maintain microservices that support our API-driven architecture, focusing on maintainability and efficiency.
Database DevOps : Apply DevOps best practices to database management, including automated provisioning, backups, and scaling in cloud environments.
Collaborate on Production Engineering Standards : Work closely with software and systems engineers to create standards for scalability, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
Debug in Production : Tackle hard production issues through debugging, monitoring, and log management practices, ensuring minimal downtime and impact.
Drive Continuous Improvement : Implement best practices in observability, including monitoring, logging, and alerting, and optimize infrastructure for growth.
Qualifications
Experience : 5+ years in DevOps or Production Engineering, with hands-on experience in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
Kubernetes and EKS Expertise : Strong experience managing Kubernetes in AWS EKS, including deploying, scaling, and managing clusters.
Microservices & APIs : Demonstrated proficiency in building and managing microservices architecture and API-driven applications.
Coding Skills : Proficient in one or more programming languages (Python, Node.js, Java) and a commitment to writing high-quality, maintainable code.
Database DevOps : Experience in setting up, managing, and automating database deployments and backups, particularly in cloud environments.
Problem-Solving Abilities : Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills in live production environments, with experience in log management and monitoring.
Strong Foundation in UNIX/Linux : Proficiency in Linux systems for production service management and debugging.
Preferred Skills
Networking Fundamentals : Knowledge of networking and internet service architectures, including load balancing, caching, and CDN integrations.
Security and Compliance : Familiarity with securing production environments and performing penetration testing.
Scripting and Automation : Experience with scripting (Bash, Python) for automation in deployment and maintenance tasks.
