About Position:

We are on the lookout for a seasoned Cloud Database Administrator with a specialized focus on distributed database systems and a minimum of 5 years of experience. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing, scaling, and ensuring the reliability of our distributed databases deployed on cloud infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on Kubernetes orchestration.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee the administration and operation of distributed database systems in cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Implement and manage Kubernetes deployments for database orchestration, ensuring seamless scalability and containerized application integration.
  • Conduct routine database maintenance tasks, including provisioning, backup, recovery, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with development teams to refine database architectures, optimize queries, and streamline data flow within microservices environments.
  • Automate database operations and maintenance using scripting languages and cloud automation tools.
  • Engage in capacity planning and resource allocation to accommodate growing data demands and workloads.
  • Uphold strict database security measures, perform regular audits, and swiftly remediate vulnerabilities. Diagnose and resolve complex database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to SLAs.
  • Evaluate new cloud database technologies and services, advocating for enhancements that align with business objectives.
  • Support data migration initiatives from on-premises systems to cloud-based distributed databases.
  • Document database environments, processes, and protocols to maintain clarity and compliance across teams.

Expertise You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on distributed database systems in the cloud.
  • Proficient with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their managed database offerings (e.g., Amazon Aurora, Azure Cosmos DB, Google Spanner).
  • Demonstrable expertise in SQL and experience with distributed database management systems (e.g., Cassandra, Yugabyte DB, Cockroach DB).
  • Strong background in Kubernetes deployment strategies, containerization, and orchestration.
  • Skilled in automation and infrastructure as code tools (such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm).
  • Knowledgeable in database replication, sharding, backup, and disaster recovery methodologies.
  • Autonomous problem-solver with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
  • Excellent communication skills with a talent for articulating technical concepts clearly.
  • Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) with a focus on database services.
  • Yugabyte DB administration certification
  • Prior experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern deployment techniques
