Connectivity Automation and Validation Engineer

Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in software validation or QA.
• Experience in Agile project management and issue tracking using tools such as JIRA.

Responsible for developing and maintaining automated test scripts and content to ensure the robustness and reliability of SoM connectivity domain, specifically focusing on Modem and GNSS technologies, through rigorous testing. The Connectivity Automation and Validation Engineer will work closely with the Connectivity Validation Architect and other team members to support the overall objectives of the Software team.

Areas Of Responsibility

• Connectivity Validation :
• Develop and Execute Validation Content:
• Create Comprehensive Test Cases : Design detailed and practical validation test cases specifically for Modem and GNSS systems, ensuring they cover all necessary scenarios.
• Define Test Objectives and Scope : Establish clear test objectives, scope, and success criteria to guide the validation process.
• Hands-On Execution : Actively engage in the hands-on execution of validation activities, including setting up test environments, running tests, and analysing results.
• Coordinate Validation Activities : Plan and manage the scheduling and execution of validation activities to ensure they are completed on time and meet quality standards.
• Compliance and Standards:
• Ensure all validation activities comply with relevant industry standards such as 3GPP and GCF.
• Stay updated with the latest changes in standards and incorporate them into validation processes.
• Interoperability Testing:
• Conduct thorough interoperability testing with a variety of devices and networks to ensure seamless connectivity.
• Identify and document any compatibility issues and work on resolving them.
• Automation:
• Design and implement automated test frameworks and scripts to enhance the efficiency and coverage of validation processes.
• Utilize tools such as PyTest, Robot Framework or RAILS Framework for automation.
• Debugging and Troubleshooting:
• Lead efforts to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues discovered during validation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and fix bugs.
• Use network simulators and analysers like Spirent, Anritsu, and Rohde & Schwarz for in-depth analysis.
• Collaboration :
• Work closely with validation content developer engineers and provide support in writing and automating test content.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D and product management.
• Coordinate with external partners and vendors for validation activities.
• Documentation and Reporting :
• Develop detailed validation plans and test cases.
• Document test results and create comprehensive validation reports.
• Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and quality standards.
• Continuous Improvement :
• Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in Modem and GNSS.
• Participate in training sessions on new validation techniques and tools.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Modem and GNSS technologies.

Technical And Behavioural Skills

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of Modem technologies and GNSS constellations such as GPS, GLONASS, IRNSS, Galileo, and QZSS.
• Understanding and knowledge of simulators, test benches, and analysers.
• Knowledge of air interfaces such as CDMA2000, GERAN, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, LTE FDD/TDD, or CRAT.
• Familiarity with standards such as 3GPP2 IS-2000 Release C, E, F/EDGE Multi-Slot Class 33/HSDPA/HSUPA/Cat13.
• Familiarity with tools such as:
• Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI.
• Version Control Systems: Git, SVN.
• Issue Tracking and Project Management Tools: JIRA, Confluence.
• Network Simulators and Analysers: Spirent, Anritsu, Rohde & Schwarz.
• Programming and Automation Frameworks: Proficiency in C/C++/Python and experience with test automation frameworks such as PyTest, Robot Framework or RAILS .
