Job Title : Business Development Manager Location : Pune, Maharashtra Department: Business Development / Sales and Marketing Reports to : Head of Business Development Job Type: Full-time Industry – Plastics Automotive Components Manufacturing Experience - 5-15 Years in Plastic Injection Moulding components company Key Responsibilities: Lead Generation & Market Research: Identify and Research New Opportunities: Conduct in-depth market research to identify potential clients, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), Tier-1 suppliers, and other stakeholders within the automotive sector. Lead Prospecting: Identify leads through multiple channels such as online platforms, automotive exhibitions, cold calling, referrals, and industry databases. Maintain CRM Database: Regularly update and manage the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system with new leads, contacts, and opportunities. Request for Quotation (RFQ) Management: RFQ Evaluation: Manage and evaluate incoming RFQs, ensuring that all client requirements are clearly understood and aligned with the company’s manufacturing capabilities. Cost Estimation & Proposal Preparation: Work closely with the technical and production teams to prepare accurate cost estimations, pricing structures, and project proposals. Negotiations & Contract Finalization: Lead negotiations with clients regarding prices, terms, and conditions, ensuring that contracts align with the company’s profitability and strategic objectives. Timely Response: Ensure that RFQs are responded to promptly and within the stipulated timelines to maintain customer satisfaction. Lead Generation & Sales: Generate and qualify leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, industry events, and digital platforms. Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to craft proposals, negotiate terms, and close deals with potential clients. Identify and approach original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1, and Tier 2 suppliers in the automotive industry. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with new and existing clients. Serve as the main point of contact for key clients, addressing their requirements, providing solutions, and ensuring satisfaction. Regularly meet with clients to discuss product innovations, quality standards, and service improvement initiatives. Product Development Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D and engineering teams to understand and communicate the capabilities of new plastic components and materials. Act as a liaison between customers and production teams to ensure that customer specifications and needs are accurately understood and implemented. Contract Negotiation & Business Agreements: Lead negotiations for new contracts, ensuring favorable terms for the company while maintaining competitive pricing. Manage pricing strategies, payment terms, and contractual obligations, ensuring compliance and profitability. Sales Strategy & Forecasting: Develop and implement business development strategies to meet sales targets. Provide accurate sales forecasting, track performance, and adjust strategies as needed. Report on sales performance and market trends to senior management. Product and Market Expansion: Identify and explore new product lines and markets within the automotive industry. Develop and implement strategies for market entry and expansion, especially in emerging markets for automotive plastics. Customer Feedback & Improvement: Collect customer feedback and communicate it to the product development and quality assurance teams for continuous improvement. Address customer complaints or issues promptly and efficiently, ensuring long-term business relationships. Qualifications & Skills: Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Plastics, Automotive) or Business Administration (MBA preferred). Experience: 5-15 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, preferably in the automotive components manufacturing industry (plastic components experience is highly desirable). Strong understanding of the automotive supply chain, including OEMs, Tier 1, and Tier 2 suppliers. Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of plastic injection molding, automotive-grade plastics, and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with the specific challenges and trends in the plastic automotive component sector (e.g., sustainability, lightweight materials). Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Strong relationship-building abilities with a client-centric approach. Strategic thinking and ability to make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in CRM software, MS Office, and other business management tools. Personal Attributes: Self-motivated and proactive. Goal-oriented with a passion for driving sales and business growth. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
