Job Overview:
The BIM Manager for Piping will lead the implementation and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for piping systems in a design engineering consulting environment. This role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate, clash-free piping designs that align with client specifications and industry standards.
Key responsibilities include managing 3 D piping models, overseeing BIM software (Revit, Auto CAD, Navisworks), ensuring compliance with project standards, and providing technical support and training to team members. The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and expertise in piping design and BIM technologies.
Job Description:-
Software Management:
Install, configure, and maintain Auto CAD Plant 3 D software.
Ensure all updates, patches, and licenses are up to date.
User Support:
Provide technical support to Auto CAD Plant 3 D users.
Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues.
Customization:
Customize the software interface and settings to meet project-specific needs.
Develop and maintain custom catalogs, specifications, and templates.
Training:
Conduct training sessions for new users and ongoing skill development for existing users.
Create and update training materials and documentation.
Data Management:
Manage the organization and storage of design files, drawings, and project data.
Implement data backup and recovery processes.
Collaboration:
Facilitate collaboration among project teams by setting up and managing project sharing tools.
Ensure data exchange and compatibility with other software platforms.
Standards Enforcement:
Establish and enforce CAD standards and best practices.
Review and audit project files to ensure compliance with standards.
Quality Control:
Perform quality checks on drawings and models to identify errors or inconsistencies.
Implement processes for quality assurance and control.
Project Coordination:
Work closely with project managers and engineers to ensure the software supports project goals and timelines.
Help coordinate multi-disciplinary design efforts.
Integration:
Integrate Auto CAD Plant 3 D with other software tools used in the project, such as P&ID software or structural design software.
Documentation:
Create and maintain documentation on software configurations, customizations, and workflows.
Document best practices and lessons learned for future projects.
Security:
Implement and maintain security protocols to protect project data.
Manage user access and permissions.
Performance Optimization:
Monitor software performance and optimize configurations for efficiency.
Recommend hardware upgrades when necessary.
Vendor Relations:
Liaise with Autodesk or other software vendors for technical support and product updates.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and software advancements.
Identify opportunities to improve workflows and efficiency within the organization.
· An in-depth knowledge of Plant 3 D Customization & Auto CAD, Lisp Programming, and a hand-on experience on SQL database
· Knowledge in International Codes and Practices
· Software Loading and Project Setup
· Day-to-day administrative activities like Project Archival, Retrieval, Back Up, etc.
· Piping Specs, Specialty Items customization & catalogues preparation
· Drawing file customization
· Extraction of various reports like Interferences, Reports, MTO, Line List, Design Parameters, and Insulation
· Troubleshooting of Plant 3 D user level and advance user level problems
· Conducting internal training
· Administration of Plant 3 D model, customization to suit project requirements, and support to multi-discipline end users of model
· Ensure maintenance of integrity of 3 D model database and regular transfer of information from 3 D model to other IT Systems
· Work closely with discipline leads of projects to understand their requirements and address their demand on time
· Develop macros to automate tasks, improve efficiency, and avoid human errors.
Intelligent PID administration is also preferred.

Educational Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Piping Engineering, or a related field.
