Role Description
As an Accountant at ChocolateX, you will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and processing payroll. You will play a vital role in supporting financial decision-making and contributing to the overall efficiency of the finance department.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations:
Manage and maintain general ledger accounts, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close.
Prepare financial statements, reports, and summaries for management review.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations.
Review and monitor financial transactions to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
Payroll Management:
Process accurate and timely payroll for all employees on a bi-weekly/monthly basis.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll tax regulations, including benefits and deductions.
Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies related to employee wages, benefits, and deductions.
Maintain employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
Tax Compliance:
Prepare and file various tax returns, including payroll taxes, income taxes, and other relevant filings.
Assist with the preparation for audits, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
Other Responsibilities:
Assist with internal and external audits as necessary.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
Continuously improve accounting and payroll processes for efficiency and accuracy.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and payroll.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and payroll systems.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and compliance requirements.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, or similar.
Knowledge of financial regulations and best practices.
