Civil Design Engineer – Pumped Storage Project Location: Gurgaon Department: Engineering About ACME Solar: ACME Solar is a leader in the renewable energy sector, dedicated to providing sustainable energy solutions. Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Civil Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design of pumped storage projects . As a Civil Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing key civil infrastructure components for pumped storage systems, including reservoirs, dams, penstocks, powerhouses, and associated civil works. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to create sustainable and efficient energy storage solutions. Key Responsibilities: Civil Design & Engineering: Lead the design of civil structures for pumped storage projects, including dams, reservoirs, penstocks, tunnels, spillways, and powerhouses. Develop and prepare detailed design calculations , drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Conduct site assessments, geotechnical investigations, and hydrological studies to inform civil designs and ensure their feasibility and sustainability. Perform structural analysis for the design of critical components, ensuring they meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and environmental engineers to integrate civil designs with other components of the pumped storage system. Coordinate with external contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of civil works. Assist the project management team in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of civil engineering tasks. Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with all local, regional, and national codes, regulations, and standards related to civil engineering design for energy infrastructure. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to civil works and develop mitigation strategies to address these risks. Prioritize safety in design, ensuring that all structures are resilient and sustainable over the long term. Construction Support: Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any design-related issues or challenges. Review and approve contractor submissions, shop drawings, and methods of construction. Visit project sites regularly to inspect progress, ensure design implementation, and address site-specific challenges. Innovation & Optimization: Explore and implement cost-effective, sustainable design solutions that optimize the efficiency of pumped storage systems. Stay updated on advancements in civil engineering practices and energy storage technologies and apply best practices to current projects. Documentation & Reporting: Prepare clear, accurate, and detailed design reports and progress updates for internal teams and stakeholders. Maintain a well-organized record of all design calculations, drawings, and modifications throughout the project lifecycle. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in civil design, with a focus on large infrastructure projects, preferably within the energy sector. Experience with pumped storage hydroelectric projects or hydropower infrastructure is highly desirable. Familiarity with the integration of energy storage systems with renewable power projects (e.g., solar, wind) is a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in civil design software such as Auto CAD, Civil 3 D, Revit, or similar. Strong understanding of structural analysis , soil mechanics, foundation design, and hydraulic systems. Familiarity with geotechnical design principles and their application to energy infrastructure projects. Experience with structural analysis tools (e.g., STAAD Pro, SAP2000) is a plus. Key Competencies: Technical Expertise: Solid knowledge of civil engineering principles, including structural, geotechnical, and hydraulic systems, as they relate to energy infrastructure. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to approach complex engineering challenges methodically and develop practical, cost-effective solutions. Project Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables efficiently. Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to design, ensuring all civil works meet technical specifications, safety standards, and quality controls. Adaptability & Initiative: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, take initiative, and adapt to evolving project requirements. Working Conditions: Full-time, permanent position.
