Job Purpose

  • Primary Goal : Provide effective and efficient financial support for business restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, funds flow management, and mitigate financial risks for MIT WPU.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Advise management as needed on financial matters.
  • Develop and implement a financial strategy ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze legal implications of financial decisions and guide stakeholders.

Research and Development

  • Stay updated on new laws and regulations and their impact on the organization.

Financial and Budget Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage university funds, property, and investments.
  • Monitor cash and bank balances, ensuring effective revenue management.
  • Fulfill duties as per the Maharashtra Universities Account Code and conduct regular audits.
  • Prepare financial reports for various regulatory and funding bodies, including the State and Central Government, UGC, and AICTE.
  • Execute other tasks as assigned by the Vice-Chancellor or Pro Vice-Chancellor.

Collaborations

  • Serve as an employee advocate across MIT WPU institutions.
  • Represent MIT WPU in professional bodies for enhanced branding.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Supervise university funds and advise on financial matters.
  • Ensure compliance with expenditure limits and that funds are used for intended purposes.
  • Maintain records of all assets, conduct regular verifications, and manage asset reconciliation.
  • Address unauthorized expenditures and propose disciplinary actions for financial irregularities.
  • Request necessary information for financial oversight from relevant university offices.
  • Maintain minutes of Finance and Accounts Committee meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain accounts using a double-entry system, present budgets, and audit reports to the Finance and Accounts Committee and Management Council.

External Representation

  • Represent MIT WPU at professional bodies, conferences, and seminars to enhance the university's visibility and reputation.
  • Remain informed on best practices in finance and accounting leadership.
