You’ll work with the Engineering Manager, Product, and Design to shape and deliver features across our microservice ecosystem, leading delivery across a Java backend and React frontend.In the Rental Applications team, we empower agencies by digitising their day-to-day activities so they can focus on what matters most. Our solutions help agencies find the best tenants faster and more efficiently, all through a compliant, user-friendly experience.While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include:Deliver technical solutions, contributing code and supporting delivery of features across Java, Node.js backend and React frontendCollaborate with Engineering Manager, Product, and Design to align technical direction with business goalsMentor and support other engineers, sharing your expertise to help them growSolve technical challenges in ways that enable the team to learn and extend solutionsParticipate in planning, code reviews, testing and documentationAdhere to REA Group’s engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, observability, distributed systems)Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholdersWho we’re looking for:Strong experience developing backend services with Java and Spring Boot (Node.js is a plus)Solid frontend skills in ReactFamiliarity with event-driven architectures and microservices ecosystemsExperience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure automationProficiency in developing and optimizing relational databases, especially PostgresSkilled in building API-driven productsUnderstanding of CI/CD, TDD, modern software delivery and observabilityDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with business stakeholders, Product, and DesignExperience mentoring other engineers and contributing to a positive team cultureBonus points for:Experience with search technologies such as ElasticsearchProficiency with data analytics tools and platforms, including SQL and Google BigQueryWhat we offer:A hybrid and flexible approach to working.Transport options to help you get to and from work, including home pick-up and drop-off.Meals provided on site in our office.Flexible leave options including parental leave, family care leave and celebration leave.Insurances for you and your immediate family members.Programs to support mental, emotional, financial and physical health & wellbeing.Continuous learning and development opportunities to further your technical expertise.The values we live by:Our values are at the core of how we operate, treat each other, and make decisions.
