About the role:
A well-established, innovative marketing and design agency is seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Technical Accountant with extensive experience in conducting Quality of Earnings analyses. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in our financial due diligence processes, working alongside our consulting team to evaluate the financial performance and accounting practices of target businesses. This position requires deep technical accounting expertise, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to provide clear and actionable insights for our clients' M&A deals.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct comprehensive Quality of Earnings (QoE) analyses to evaluate a target company's true economic earnings, financial performance, and potential risks.
* Review and analyze financial statements, accounting policies, and underlying data to identify trends, anomalies, and adjustments required for QoE.
* Provide insights into a company's revenue recognition practices, cost structure, working capital needs, and other relevant financial metrics impacting valuation.
* Collaborate with M&A and valuation teams to prepare detailed QoE reports that inform clients' investment and acquisition decisions.
* Present findings to clients, explaining complex accounting and financial concepts in an accessible, client-focused manner.
* Work with clients and their accountants to verify data accuracy and address any discrepancies uncovered during the due diligence process.
* Assist with financial modeling, forecasting, and cash flow analyses as part of broader M&A advisory projects.
* Keep up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements that could impact QoE analyses or M&A transactions.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CFA preferred.
* 5+ years of experience in technical accounting, with at least 3 years focused on Quality of Earnings analysis and/or financial due diligence.
* Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), revenue recognition, and other critical accounting standards.
* Proven experience working in financial consulting, M&A advisory, or a similar role focused on transaction support and due diligence.
* Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical details to non-financial stakeholders.
* Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
