DESCRIPTION:
The role offers an opportunity to tackle complex technical challenges, work with diverse customers worldwide, and engage in a dynamic, varied work environment. You will be required to deeply understand the technology landscape and evaluate the use of new technologies. As an influential member of the team, you will collaborate with peers and senior leaders to define and refine the standards for operational excellence across JP Payment Products. You will consistently address abstract issues spanning multiple functional areas, driving your team to pursue scalable improvements across other teams, services, and platforms.
Key job responsibilities
•You independently manage a team of engineers. You are able to hire, develop, and promote engineers.
•You establish a roadmap and successfully deliver partnering effectively with customers and stakeholders
•You define clear goals and objectives.
•Your team has an effective engineering process and consistently delivers results with minimal defects and disruption.
•You communicate ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all types of audiences.
•You work successfully with customers, leaders, and other engineering teams.
•You define metrics to measure team progress, customer experience, solution quality, and operational excellence.
•Your team has customer engagement mechanisms, adheres to SLAs, and effectively manages operations.
About the team
Amazon Payments in Japan (JPP) manages payments for the JP Stores business through payment acceptance, COP, and the paying customer experience for both credit cards and non-card payments. The payment instruments include all Amazon branded payment products, such as, the co-branded Credit Cards (CBCC), Shop with Points (SWP), and the suite of Gift Cards (GC). JPP is a portfolio of services with very successful merchant and marketplace integrations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 10+ years experience with hardware, firmware, and software, as well as their combined architecture
- Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems or web services.
- Experience in managing large scale infrastructure and automation
- Fundamentals in computer science
- Hands on experience of building large scale systems using AWS technologies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Record of hiring great team members and developing leaders
- Communicates well with non-technical leaders and engineers
- Authors roadmap documents, project plans, root cause analysis, and team development documents
- Knowledge and operational experience with the design of server, storage, and/or infrastructure products
- Thorough understanding of enterprise information systems
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional business and software development teams
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands, scoping large efforts and negotiating timelines
- Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies
- Experience developing in Python for similar modern programming language, such as C++, Java, C#, or Ruby.
- Hands on experience of 5+ years building scalable systems on a relational database, with high availability
