Job Description: Linux System Administrator Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled Linux System Administrator with a strong background in maintaining production servers. The ideal candidate will manage servers running Node.js and NGINX, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Familiarity with Bash scripting for automation tasks is essential. This role is perfect for someone with at least 1 years of relevant experience and a passion for system administration. Key Responsibilities: Server Management: Administer and maintain Linux-based production servers. Install, configure, and update Node.js and NGINX on servers. Ensure optimal performance, uptime, and reliability of the production environment. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to server performance, connectivity, and application deployment. Bash Scripting and Automation: Write and maintain Bash scripts to automate routine tasks, backups, and deployment processes. Implement system monitoring and alerting for server health and performance metrics. Security and Updates: Ensure server security by applying patches, updates, and managing firewalls. Manage SSL certificates and ensure the integrity of NGINX configurations. System Monitoring: Monitor server health, resource usage, and logs for performance issues. Collaborate with developers to deploy, update, and optimize Node.js applications. Backup and Recovery: Create and maintain reliable backup and recovery strategies. Perform regular backups and manage disaster recovery processes. Required Qualifications: Experience: At least 2 years of experience in Linux system administration, with experience maintaining production servers. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Linux server administration (Ubuntu, Cent OS, or similar). Hands-on experience with Node.js and NGINX. Strong scripting skills, specifically in Bash for automation tasks. Basic understanding of networking and firewalls. Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or a Diploma in a relevant discipline. Additional Skills: Familiarity with basic database management (Postgre SQL, My SQL). Ability to troubleshoot performance, configuration, and connectivity issues. Experience with version control systems such as Git. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, or similar). Familiarity with monitoring tools like Nagios, Prometheus, or Grafana. Knowledge of additional web server tools or load balancing strategies. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Good communication skills to collaborate with other teams. Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
