Imagine how interesting a role like “Head of Product” can be at Amazon - a retail company, Airbnb - a hospitality company or Netflix - a media services company. Today these are some of the most valuable consumer tech firms. They are trying to disrupt their respective ecosystems everyday through the power of their product ecosystems, by creating unique and delightful experiences for every customer. The only industry where there hasn’t been any such major breakthrough is the restaurant industry. We at Rebel Foods are trying to make that happen. With more than 4000 virtual / delivery only internet restaurants across its brands - Faasos, Behrouz Biryani, Oven story pizza Mandarin Oak Indo Chinese, Rebel Foods is the world’s largest and fastest growing internet restaurant company. Head of Product for D2 C Platform with Rebel Foods To get closer to our ambitious vision, we want to identify some of the large and profitable categories (for example Biriyani, Pizza etc) within the food space and design a portfolio of Brands that enables us to win in each category decisively. And while we will continue to rely on the aggregators for distribution leverage, one of the most critical objectives in our journey is to build our own D2 C platform. This platform will enable us to own and harness customer data that can in turn be used for creating meaningful personalised solutions for our customers. We embarked on the journey to build D2 C platform as a strategic priority 3 years back and have made a significant progress in a short span, with the D2 C channel now having a substantial contribution in the overall company revenue. The importance of D2 C continues to be a pivotal one as it's one of the key components of the Rebel flywheel to leverage insights from customer behaviour to enhance our food missions and deliver great personalized experiences. Product-led growth has been our key philosophy to drive customer value at scale. We’ve built several innovative customer-first features that have helped us in our our growth trajectory over the past few years including building D2 C as a Service capability that powers all our D2 C ordering platforms leveraging the same powerful D2 C engine, building an omnichannel seamless ordering experience in the Eat Sure offline foodcourts, launching one-of-a-kind loyalty program to reward customers, rendering personalized experiences across touchpoints using customer-level attributes, enabling customers to order food on train, and several features to simplify food ordering on the app. The D2 C platform will leverage our core operating system (kitchens, supply chain, culinary innovation centre and own delivery fleet) and will be positioned on a sharp, unique and scalable proposition. The D2 C unit will have two key organisational pillars - the Business team and the Product team who will work very closely with each other, being supported by the horizontal engineering and operations teams. The Role The role of the product head for this D2 C platform will be one of most powerful roles within the organisation. This role will have the end to end responsibility for the strategic design, development and implementation of all product features and solutions for the platform. This role will be accountable for the overall customer experience (NPS) and growth (customer funnel health) charter for the platform. The Head of Product for D2 C will also be a key thought leader in this space, building long term product vision and rallying the team and stakeholders towards the vision. The leader will innovate in the areas that strengthen the core value propositions of Eat Sure to create a new category of ‘foodcourt on an app’. Key Expectations ● Develop and design a strategic product roadmap for the D2 C platform across all relevant consumer touch points ● Hire, groom and build a stellar Product Org ● Contribute in terms of thought leadership and strategy for the larger Rebel leadership team ● Be a culture ambassador (upholding the Rebel values) to everyone within and outside the org Stakeholders/ Partners and Team The product team will have the following functions ● Journey Team o Pre-Order (Search, Merchandising, CRM, Recommendation) o Post-Order (Check Out, Payment, Order Tracking, Feedback, Recovery) ● Design Team (Creatives, UI/UX Specialists) ● Data Team (Business Analytics, Data Science, Trust and Safety) The product team will also work very closely with the Platform Business Team, the central engineering team, central operations team and also the relevant Executive Committee members. Skills & Competencies For this super critical role, we are trying to get someone on board who can put together a stellar team of product managers and designers. You should be customer obsessed, smart and analytical, strategic yet execution focused, passionate about solving problems through technology and must have shown some entrepreneurial leadership in the past. You should have the ability to succeed in fast-paced startup environment with many cross functional partners. You will report to the CEO of D2 C business – who is also an executive committee member & cofounder at Rebel. Desired Qualification and Experience MBA with 12+ years of experience in product management in the e-commerce/any digitally native industry; Experience with an early stage firm/working on a project in incubation will be an added advantage.
