Job Responsibilities: Legal Advice and Counsel: The legal advice is on a wide range of issues, including corporate law, commercial contracts, intellectual property, labour and employment law, data privacy, and transactional matters. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents and contracts: The role is responsible for initial drafting, thorough review, negotiation, execution, and eventual termination of the Contract. A critical aspect involves conducting meticulous reviews of all contracts to proactively identify and mitigate any clauses that could potentially undermine the company's interests or strategic position. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards (FSSA, Legal Metrology, Companies Act, Labour, and Environmental Laws). Collaborate with the Compliance Committee to develop internal policies and procedures, promote best practices in legal and risk management, and foster a culture of integrity and awareness by staying updated on evolving legislation impacting the business. Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Oversee and resolve legal disputes through strategic counsel, collaboration, and negotiation, ensuring timely actions and proactive risk mitigation. Intellectual Property Management: The role actively works with Group Legal & IP to manage the company's intellectual property, which, amongst other things, includes criminal actions against infringers/counterfeiters. Employment Law and Internal Investigations: Manage complex employment-related legal matters, including disputes, discrimination, and harassment cases. Lead or support internal investigations on ethics and compliance, ensuring confidentiality and transparency. Provide guidance on privacy laws (DPDPA) and plastic waste management regulations and their implementation. Required Experience & Qualifications: LLB with 13-15 years of PQE, with 7-8 years experience in corporate. Strong expertise in corporate law, contracts, compliance, and litigation. Experience in FMCG/FMCD/manufacturing/consumer goods sectors preferred.
