Leather Goods Designer

The Designer within D2 International will handle the leather goods category and is responsible for sourcing, pattern cutters, craftsmen and vendor communication. From the initial development stage at proto to salesman samples and following through to production. You will follow up and ensure timely delivery and sample fulfilment. In this position, you will be working closely with design, vendors, sourcing team, pattern cutters and craftsmen. You will report directly to the Head of Development.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:-Create tech packs and hold a clear and neat administrationWorking closely with designers, craftsmen, and vendorsContinuously improving the product by finding innovative production techniquesKeep up to date with new materials, shapes, and techniquesFashion forward. Judging proto samples on technical details, measurements and workmanshipCommunicating comments to pattern cutters, craftsmen, sourcing team and vendorsAlso, anticipating feasibility of changes within the timeline/critical pathSample progress tracking, monitoring deadlines and statusProduct and production know-how to realize best FOB priceQualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Design 4+ years of relevant experiencePrior experience with a leading export house in designing leather handbags, wallets, and other small leather goodsExcellent leadership and communication skillsProficiency in Adobe, CAD, Corel Draw
