We’re early-stage and looking for a Backend / Platform Engineer — Agentic AI Systems, to join us. This role will own the technical backbone of the company and help shape the culture, standards, and product DNA.What You’ll BuildPlatform & BackendMulti-tenant APIs (Fast API/Nest JS) and Postgres schemasTemporal workflows for long-running agent behaviorRedis Streams / event-driven pipelinesConnectors for databases, file storage, Saa S APIs, Whats App, email, etc.Agent Execution LayerTool/action APIs for autonomous behaviorData ingestion and transformation pipelinesSafety/evaluation loops and error recoveryIntelligent orchestration for 24/7 agentsInfrastructure & DeploymentsCI/CD, Docker, and deployments to Fly.io/Render/AWSCost-efficient infra: scale-to-zero workers, caching, R2/S3Observability: Open Telemetry, Langfuse, Sentry, Post HogCreative Problem SolvingBreak down fuzzy problems into agent workflowsPrototype fast, validate, then harden into productionInvent new agent patterns, capabilities, and system abstractionsIdentify edge cases, failure modes, and design around themRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong in Python (Fast API/Pydantic) or Type Script (Nest JS)Solid SQL + Postgres fundamentals (schemas, indexing, multitenancy)Experience with asynchronous workflows (Temporal/Celery/Airflow/Dagster)Comfortable with Redis Streams, Docker, CI/CD pipelinesExperience integrating LLMs into real productsStrong creative reasoning — can design agent workflows from scratchExcellent ambiguity navigation — can build without perfect specsStrong problem-solving across engineering layersAbility to evaluate trade-offs and choose pragmatic solutionsCuriosity, experimentation mindset, and ability to discover better paths than the obvious onesNice to HavePrior work with Langfuse (prompt/version tracking) or Open Telemetry.Experience with S3/R2 storage and CDN integration.Understanding of multi-tenant security (scoped API keys, audit logs).Startup/early-stage experience, shipping 0→1 products.Interview ProcessOur selection process is designed to assess both technical expertise and cultural alignment:Initial Conversation (30 minutes, online): Introduction to Perceptive Labs, career aspirations, and behavioural assessment.Technical & Case Study Assessment (90 minutes, group interview): Evaluation of problem-solving, system design (multi-tenant APIs, workflows), and applied coding through a structured case study.Final Discussion (30 minutes): Deep-dive on role expectations, collaboration style, and growth opportunities.What We OfferHands-on experience designing a first-of-its-kind AI product.Competitive salary + benefits.Direct mentorship from founder, exposure to end-to-end company building.
