Founding Engineer for Technology Startup

About the Position
We are a dynamic technology startup seeking a passionate Founding Development Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the technical foundation of our automated time booking SaaS product, currently in the MVP stage. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing scalable software solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges. Note: This role will start as part-time with equity-based compensation until we secure funding, offering a significant opportunity for long-term financial rewards and ownership in the company.
About the Company We are an early-stage startup led by an experienced technology professional, focused on delivering a cutting-edge automated time booking SaaS solution. The product is in its MVP stage and nearing market launch. The founder is currently a one-person team, looking to build a core technical team to scale both the product and the company.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
Build and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda).
Develop efficient data storage solutions using PostgreSQL, with optimized SQL queries.
Implement real-time data streaming and event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka.
Set up authentication and authorization systems using Keycloak or similar IAM solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and robust software solutions.
Qualifications Proficient in Java and Spring Boot with a strong understanding of backend development, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) for cloud deployment.
Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
Experience with Apache Kafka for building event-driven systems.
Familiarity with Keycloak or similar identity management solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
Excellent communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Bonus Skills:
Experience with Docker , Kubernetes , and CI/CD pipelines .
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies .
