Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining robust accounting practices. This role will involve overseeing invoicing processes, follow-ups on receivables, and working closely with both internal teams and customers to ensure timely and accurate financial management. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting within the IT industry, proficiency in Zoho applications like Zoho Books, Zoho CRM and strong organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and General Ledger Management:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger and are in compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Invoicing and Billing:
- Generate accurate and timely invoices for customers based on project milestones, service agreements, or recurring billing cycles.
- Ensure all invoices are consistent with contract terms and accurately reflect services rendered or products delivered.
- Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to verify invoicing information and resolve discrepancies.
Receivables Management:
- Monitor accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.
- Perform follow-ups with clients regarding overdue invoices and manage communications to resolve payment issues.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce overdue receivables and improve cash flow.
Customer Management and Support:
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding billing inquiries and account-related issues.
- Provide professional and responsive customer service, addressing any discrepancies or concerns related to invoicing, payments, or financial records.
- Maintain a customer-focused approach while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
Financial Analysis and Budgeting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts by providing financial data and insights.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and make recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements.
- Work with management to ensure financial targets and KPIs are met and adjusted as needed.
Tax and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT/GST, income tax, and other local and international tax requirements.
- Assist in preparing and filing tax returns and liaise with auditors for year-end audits and other compliance-related matters.
Internal Controls and Process Improvement:
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Identify areas for process improvement within accounting workflows and propose solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and industry best practices.
Zoho Integration and Financial Tools Management:
- Utilize Zoho Books and Zoho CRM for managing financial records, invoicing, and customer communications.
- Support integration and optimization of Zoho products with the accounting systems to streamline processes and improve reporting capabilities.
- Train and support team members in Zoho-related tasks and troubleshooting.
Team Collaboration and Supervision:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and project management, to ensure seamless financial operations.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A masters in Commerce or business stream is an advantage.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the IT or SaaS industry.
Zoho Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Zoho Books, Zoho CRM, or similar ERP systems.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with invoicing, accounts receivable, and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of tax laws and regulatory requirements (local and international).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Customer-focused attitude with excellent relationship management skills.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and accounting tools quickly.
