We are looking for an experienced Staff Engineer to drive the design, architecture, and delivery of complex, scalable, and high-impact technical solutions across our global content platform. This role is critical to the growth and success of our technology team and involves close collaboration with engineering teams, product management, and other stakeholders to ensure technical excellence and alignment with company goals. Write high-quality, production-grade code to create pilots or proof-of-concept solutions for innovative ideas. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers across the organization to promote best practices and professional growth. Conduct thorough code and design reviews, ensuring adherence to high standards of quality and maintainability. Drive adoption of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code. 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior technical role. ~ Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, and Go. Familiarity in PHP as a plus. ~ Experience with modern web development frameworks and libraries, including Node.js and React. ~ Demonstrated experience contributing to the maintenance of existing systems and the development of new features. ~ In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and experience building cloud-native applications. ~ Extensive experience with databases, including SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB). ~ Proficiency in modern software development practices, including Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and CI/CD pipelines. ~ Demonstrated ability to design and implement secure, scalable, and reliable software systems. ~ Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. ~ Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement. ~ You will make a direct impact in accelerating science research and in improving student learning in science and business education for users around the world.
