We are seeking a talented individual to join our Sales Support and Admin team at Mercer. This role will be based in Gurugram. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

We will count on you to:


  • Provide expert guidance to shape the vision, objectives and services offered by the COE.
  • Set ambitious yet reasonable targets to measure COE performance and report out on the overall benefit of the COE; develop and prepare status reports.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operation of the COE (local and international locations); ensure excellence of services, best-in-class processes, efficient staffing and training.
  • Counsel leaders of COE’s teams to balance workloads evenly/appropriately across available resources.
  • Connect with local (international) strategic bid units to ensure the COE is meeting expectations in terms of agreed-upon proposals support, and to explore areas of additional support to free up capacity for these SBUs.
  • Connect with regional leadership to discuss trends in proposal support for various businesses and anticipate needs; plan for expansion and/or adaptation of COE’s support to free up capacity of the sales/consulting teams.
  • Identify opportunities to onboard additional businesses into the COE model and related technologies. Oversee execution of these endeavours.
  • Coordinate with Global Information Security, Risk/Compliance, Commercial, Marketing and Branding teams to ensure the COE’s content and work accurately reflects these teams’ latest materials, particularly given regional/local nuances.
  • Build out formal training and career paths, as well as appropriate incentives, for COE team members to ensure team longevity and reduce
  • Drive continued growth of the COE; ensure its services, SOPs and technologies are right for Mercer (drives cost-savings, does not fall behind competitors’ support models in the proposals space, aligns with Mercer/MMC’s strategic initiatives)
  • Manage COE teams including people and premises


What you need to have:


  • A bachelor’s degree in management or related field.
  • 22+ years of experience with 10 years leading a bid team.
  • Strong leader with experience in running bid and/or knowledge management teams
  • Creative thinker with an appetite for test & learn activities and a penchant for continuous improvement
  • Experience in working in a matrixed environment
  • Technologically oriented, interested in cutting-edge solutions such as AI
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; reliable and able to cooperate even in difficult environments

Experience in working with and leading teams in multiple geographies

  • Experience with Qvidian and/or Loopio proposal software
  • Experience in building brand new teams with a proven track record of successfully establishing them and growing them even further
  • Familiar with APMP or Shipley proposals programs; certification a plus
