JOB DESCRIPTIONRole : Data EngineerJob location : ChennaiAbout UsAt I, Saras, we develop AI applications for students, teachers and professionals.Why you should apply for I, Saras?Work in emerging tech like AI, ML and NLP.Funded by Startup India Scheme for being an innovative startup.Incubated at IIM Lucknow.Role OverviewBuild and maintain data infrastructure for AI-powered educational applications, enabling seamless data flow and intelligent features for students and teachers.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical DocumentationUnderstand business requirements from product docs (PRD and FSD)Translate them into Technical Specification Documents (TSD)Create comprehensive data architecture documentationDefine data schemas (protobuf) and API specifications (OpenAPI)DataOps & Pipeline EngineeringDesign and implement ETL/ELT pipelines for data processingBuild scalable data ingestion and transformation workflowsExtract structured data from unstructured sources (html, pdf, docx)Manage data pipeline orchestration and monitoringEnsure data quality, validation, and cleaning processesData Collection & ProcessingImplement web scraping solutions using Scrapy and other toolsBuild automated data collection systemsSearch & AI InfrastructureDevelop and optimize search and ranking algorithmsBuild RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines for LLM applicationsImplement and manage vector databases for similarity searchDesign recommendation systems for educational contentCross-functional CollaborationWork with Product and Engineering teams on data requirementsSupport ML/AI teams with clean, processed datasetsRequired Qualifications4+ years of experience in data engineering or data scienceProficiency in Python, SQL, NoSQL and data processing frameworksExperience with ETL/ELT tools and pipeline orchestrationTechnical SkillsLanguages: Python, SQL, Shell scriptingFrameworks: Scrapy, Pandas, Apache Airflow, dbtDatabases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Vector DBs (Pinecone)Cloud: AWS/GCP data services, DockerTools: Git, CI/CD, monitoring and logging systemsWhat We Offer:Opportunity to shape the future of AI in educationCompetitive salary and benefits.Continuous learning and development opportunities.We are an equal opportunity company and value diversity.
