About Syngene: Syngene (www.syngeneintl.com) is an innovation-led contract research, development and manufacturing organization offering integrated scientific services from early discovery to commercial supply.Education : CA / CFA / MBA Tier 1Geographical Coverage : All India and overseas operations of SyngenePosition purposeThis position is responsible for planning and directing the operations of the finance and accounts function and meet all compliances while enabling business strategy.Position contextThe most challenging aspect of the role is to ensure adequate financial control in the organization while enabling the business requirements.Driving Finance Operations Key Activities: Assess robustness of current systems, processes and policies across accounting, revenue, inventory and Capex managementOversee completion of special projects, and IT automations for finance processesDrive timely reporting of business MIS/ business analytics / intelligence on business requestProvide inputs on cost optimization and monetizing opportunitiesSupport with periodic balance sheet review with CFOKey Metrics Adherence to internal financial management normsTimeliness and accuracy of business reportingCompletion of special projectsRevenue Management Key ActivitiesOversee the functioning of the credit control team and ensure that all deals are getting verified, checked and credit terms are as per organizational normsSupervise the functioning of the invoicing team to ensure accurate and timely invoicing of the sales are being madeEnsure that all collections are banked as per norms, review the MIS frequently; Take corrective actions as requiredReview AR, provisions/ write-offs, accruals and deferrals and take actions as requiredEnsure appropriate Revenue Recognition as per policy and applicable standards and ensure adequate controls to prevent leakages etcKey Metrics Adherence to all norms and organizational proceduresCompliance and Audit Key ActivitiesDevelop processes and systems across the accounting and finance function to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory normsOversee compliance to accounting norms and procedures with respect to contracts, employee and vendor payments, income tax, TDS, GST, RBI guidelines and other statutory normsOversee audits as an auditee (like IFCR, and Internal Assurance audit) and manage regulatory risks for the company; Provide clarifications as required by the auditorsTrack action against observations and ensure closure of non-compliancesRevise policies to ensure compliance with changing laws in all jurisdictions where the company operatesKey Metrics Timely completion of compliance and audit activitiesNo Non-Compliance in auditsPayablesKey ActivitiesEnsure timely payments to vendors/ employees (including payroll & related compliances, reimbursements) while maintaining adequate controls, proper accounting and process efficiencyReview payables, provisions/ write backs, advances etc. and take appropriate actions depending on requirementEnsure adherence to applicable policies like anti-bribery etc. and initiate actions to strengthen the same in the organizationKey MetricsTimely release of paymentsFinancial Reporting Key ActivitiesSupport month end and year end closingSupport the Quarterly and Annual Reports and manage the internal and external review for these documentsPrepare quarterly earnings releaseMonitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide IFRS/ Ind AS interpretation and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive mannerCommunicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management teamManage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issuesAssist in the coordination of annual audit and quarterly review activities of external auditorsSupervise international accounting and issue identification and resolutionCreate, implement and maintain comprehensive worldwide accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistencyImplement and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirementsPerform continuous assessment of the close process and process re-engineering to reduce the timing to close the financial periodManaging team performance Key ActivitiesTrack team performance at an overall and individual level and provide support/ guidance wherever required to ensure achievement of yearly plansManage effective resource allocation across different teams, enhance the capability quotient of team members and drive higher team engagement through appropriate HR interventionsKey Metrics Team engagement scoreAttritionQualifications and experience The ideal candidate would be a highly accomplished finance professional with significant leadership experience and strong business acumen. S/he will, inter-alia, meet the following requirements:Chartered Accountant/ MBA 12 - 15 years of post-qualification experience, holding roles of increasing responsibility in the finance function.Prior experience in Pharma or Listed Entity will be preferred Technical competencies Strong process acumenUnderstanding of finance workflows and processesUnderstanding of accounting and taxation normsKnowledge of all relevant financial and legal statutory normsDigital-savviness and understanding of tech implementation of finance processesBehavioral competencies Strategic thinkingBusiness acumenProcess orientationEffective stakeholder managementInnovation and creative thinking
