Technical Project Manager

About Position:

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Project Manager (TPM) in India to lead and coordinate a high-performing offshore squad of data engineering contractors for our higher education client. You will serve as the primary point of contact between the offshore team and U.S.-based leadership, ensuring seamless execution of data engineering projects. This role requires deep, hands-on expertise with SQL, DBT, Python, Snowflake, AWS, and various BI platforms to guide technical teams through implementation, debugging, and architectural decisions.

What You'll Do:

• Manage multiple India-based squads, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and performance management.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement within the squad. Oversee onboarding and skill development for new team members. Cross-Shore Collaboration: Align squad priorities with U.S.-based data engineering leadership and product stakeholders, ensuring smooth handoffs and clear communication of technical requirements and deliverables.
• Serve as the primary liaison between offshore squads and U.S. teams, proactively addressing blockers and ensuring alignment on timelines and expectations.
• Technical Planning & Execution: Partner with U.S. data and analytics engineering leaders to translate business and analytical requirements into scalable, robust data solutions.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews for data pipelines, data models, and cloud infrastructure. Assist with code reviews and troubleshooting.
• Guide the squad in troubleshooting complex data pipeline issues, performance tuning, and implementation best practices.
• Hands-on expertise required in: SQL DBT Python Snowflake AWS Cloud Infrastructure BI Agile

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Technical Skills - This role requires deep, hands-on expertise with SQL, DBT, Python, AWS, and various BI platforms to guide technical teams through implementation, debugging, and architectural decisions.
• Management Skills - Agile Delivery Management, Stakeholder Management, Talent Development, Technical Planning & Execution
• Deep understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and experience running Agile ceremonies for data engineering teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
