About the Business Unit
The Languages business encompasses all non-English or Indic Brands within the Times Internet portfolio, featuring a presence in eight regional languages across India, including Navbharat Times in Hindi, Maharashtra Times in Marathi, Vijay Karnataka in Kannada, Samayam in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, and I am Gujarat.
Our Languages division stands as the fastest-growing regional content platform in India. We have an audience base of 180 million users, with approximately one in every four Indians engaging with Times Internet Languages Platforms. We are the leading news and information player in the Indic Languages category on Comscore. We have maintained this dominance for several years now.
Diversity is at the heart of our community. Our audience is predominantly young, primarily below the age of 34 and has a strong female presence. We have a strong presence on social platforms with 24 Mn followers on Facebook and 14 Mn subscribers on Youtube, as on 15th Apr’24.
We've recently expanded our portfolio with two new brands. ET Regional, an extension of The Economic Times into Indic languages, positioned as the go-to hub for financially savvy users from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Additionally, we launched Times XP, a video-first platform for Indic languages, with a vision to democratize internet access for unlettered audiences.
About the Role
A Senior/Principal Digital Content Producer – Sports Desk is a key player in driving the success of our sports coverage. This role involves creating, managing, and producing engaging digital content tailored to sports enthusiasts. The candidate will collaborate with the editorial and multimedia teams to ensure timely and impactful delivery of sports news, analysis, and features. Success in this position requires a passion for sports, creative storytelling skills, and expertise in digital content production.
Work Responsibilities
- Develop and execute innovative content strategies for the sports desk, ensuring high audience engagement.
- Produce, edit, and publish sports news, features, and multimedia content across digital platforms.
- Monitor live sports events to provide real-time updates, coverage, and analysis.
- Coordinate with reporters, analysts, and the design team to create interactive and visually appealing content.
- Plan, script, and oversee the production of video content, including highlights, analysis, and feature stories.
- Optimize content for digital platforms, including SEO, social media, and audience analytics.
- Stay updated on global and regional sports trends to ensure fresh and relevant coverage.
- Troubleshoot content workflow challenges and propose effective solutions for seamless production.
Skills, Experience & Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of major sports, leagues, teams, and players, both regional and international.
- Proven experience in digital content production, including video scripting, Anchoring, and publishing.
- Strong understanding of digital platforms, social media trends, and audience engagement metrics.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills tailored for sports journalism.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines during live sports events.
- Proficiency in multimedia tools and content management systems.
Eligibility
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in sports journalism or digital content production.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field.
- Specialized training or certification in digital content production is a plus.
- Proven track record of creating engaging sports content with high audience engagement.
- Passion for sports and a strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics.
