Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic Research Analyst for our portfolio research team, based out of Delhi. The person will be responsible for conducting deep-dive analysis of Mutual Funds (MFs) , Portfolio Management Services (PMS) , and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) in India. The role involves quantitative and qualitative research , manager due diligence , performance attribution, and preparation of investment notes to support client portfolio construction, advisory, and fund selection.

Key Responsibilities Research & Analysis
  • Track, analyze, and evaluate performance of mutual funds, PMS, and AIF schemes across equity, debt, hybrid, and alternative strategies.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis : alpha, beta, Sharpe ratio, information ratio, drawdowns, rolling returns, capture ratios, and consistency metrics.
  • Perform qualitative assessment of fund houses, investment philosophy, fund managers, and risk management practices.
  • Monitor portfolio positioning, sector/market cap exposures, liquidity profile, and churn across managers.
  • Compare fund strategies against benchmarks and peer groups ; identify outperformers and laggards.
Due Diligence & Manager Evaluation
  • Conduct due diligence meetings with fund managers, CIOs, and investment teams.
  • Assess fund manager's track record, tenure, investment style, and decision-making process .
  • Review compliance, governance, and operational risks of PMS/AIF platforms.
  • Maintain internal scoring/rating framework for shortlisting products.
Market & Industry Tracking
  • Stay updated on SEBI regulations, tax rules, and industry developments impacting MFs, PMS, and AIFs.
  • Track flows, AUM trends, and innovation in product structures (e.g., Cat III AIFs, structured products, factor-based funds).
  • Monitor global trends in asset allocation and alternatives for applicability in Indian context.
Reporting & Client Support
  • Prepare research reports, fund notes, presentations, and model portfolios for internal teams and clients.
  • Support investment committee with recommendations and research insights.
  • Assist sales/advisory teams with fund data, market outlook, and client-facing analysis.
  • Contribute to whitepapers, newsletters, and thought-leadership content.
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong grasp of financial markets, asset classes, portfolio management, and risk analytics .
  • Hands-on with Excel, financial modeling, Bloomberg/Refinitiv/Morningstar/ValueResearch/ACE MF or similar tools .
  • Proficiency in quantitative techniques – regression, risk-return metrics, factor attribution.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills .
  • Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights for decision-making.
  • Knowledge of SEBI regulations for MFs, PMS, and AIFs.
Qualifications
  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Finance/Economics/Statistics/Commerce .
  • Professional qualifications preferred: CFA, CA, MBA (Finance), FRM, CIPM, or equivalent .
  • 4–6 years of relevant experience in mutual fund research, PMS analysis, buy-side/sell-side research, or wealth management.
