Job Description: Project Manager - Retail
Position Overview:
The Project Manager for Retail is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the end-to-end process of opening new retail stores across India. This role requires strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams to ensure timely and efficient store launches.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement project plans for new retail store openings, ensuring alignment with company goals and timelines.
- Oversee site selection, lease agreements, and compliance with local regulations.
- Manage budgets and ensure cost-effective execution of projects.
2. Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Collaborate with internal teams including design, procurement, marketing, HR, and operations to ensure smooth store launches.
- Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and local authorities for site construction, permits, and approvals.
3. Store Design and Setup:
- Ensure store layouts, fixtures, and designs align with brand standards and customer experience goals.
- Monitor construction progress and resolve any issues that may arise.
4. Timeline Management:
- Track project milestones and deadlines, addressing delays or challenges proactively.
- Conduct regular progress meetings to keep stakeholders informed.
5. Risk Assessment and Problem-Solving:
- Identify potential risks in the store opening process and develop mitigation strategies.
- Address on-site issues and provide solutions promptly to avoid project delays.
6. Quality Control:
- Ensure the final store setup meets quality standards and is ready for operations.
- Conduct pre-opening inspections and oversee the handover to the operations team.
7. Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including budgets, timelines, and status reports.
- Present updates and post-project evaluations to senior management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5 – 7 years of project management experience into similar industry
- Proven experience in managing retail store openings or similar large-scale projects.
- Strong project management skills with proficiency in tools such as MS Project, Trello, or Asana.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Familiarity with retail operations, store design, and construction processes.
- Ability to travel extensively across India to oversee store openings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or Masters in Project Management.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
- Knowledge of local compliance requirements and regulations related to retail store openings.
- Experience in multi-brand or large-scale retail chains.
