We’re building a sharp People & Operations function and want someone who makes sure everyone we hire is exactly who they say they are.OverviewIf you’re currently a Researcher / Verification Specialist at a background screening provider like Hire Right, Sterling, First Advantage, Accurate or a similar large firm, this role is built for you.This is your move from anonymous high-volume queues into a visible, first-line ownership role inside a modern media/AI company. As our Researcher – Background Screening, you’ll run the checks that decide who gets through the door: you’ll verify employment, education and other key details, keep candidates informed, and make sure every report is accurate, clean and on time.Your job is simple but critical: run a tight, reliable screening process. You’ll follow clear policies and checklists, have real influence over how we do vetting as we scale, and become the go-to person for anything related to background checks at Hollywood.ai.ResponsibilitiesYour main responsibilities will include:Verify candidate informationConfirm employment history, job titles and dates using phone, email and online tooVerify education and qualifications with universities, colleges or verification services.Run background checks and right-to-work checksSupport criminal record checks and other screenings where required and legally permitted.Confirm right-to-work / work authorisation based on local regulations.Case management & documentationManage a personal queue of open cases in our internal systems.Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with company standards and data privacy rules.Handle data with a high level of confidentiality and attention to detail.Continuous improvementShare practical ideas when you spot patterns or small process improvements.Help us keep our screening checklists, email templates and documentation up to date as the company grows.QualificationsWe are only considering candidates with prior experience at a background screening provider or dedicated vetting team.Mandatory: 1+ year experience in pre-employment screening / background checks / verification at a large screening firm(e.g. Hire Right, Sterling, First Advantage, Accurate, or similar), or in an in-house vetting / pre-employment screening team.Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).Comfortable using basic computer tools (email, spreadsheets, internal systems).Detail-oriented mindset – you like checking facts and making sure information matches.Confident, polite phone and email manner – you’re not afraid to call HR departments, universities or referees.Ability to work to targets and timelines, take feedback, and adjust quickly.Willingness to learn and operate across different time zones when needed.Previous customer service, call-centre, HR operations, or research experience is a plus on top of your screening background.What we offerA role where your work directly shapes every hire at Hollywood.ai and the clients we can work with.The chance to move from outsourced screening into an in-house, first-owner role in a modern media/AI environment.Exposure to international hiring practices, creators, media talent and production teams – not just faceless HR contacts.Supportive training on our tools, policies and workflows — we don’t expect you to build everything from scratch, but your opinion will matter.Room to grow into broader People Ops, compliance, onboarding or vendor vetting over time as the company scales.A collaborative, informal culture where accuracy, trust and clear communication actually get noticed and rewarded.
