Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Lighting and Texture Artist who will be responsible for creating visually stunning and immersive lighting and textures that bring our characters, environments, and assets to life. You will collaborate with our art, design, and programming teams to develop cohesive, high-quality visuals that enhance the gaming experience. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver who can balance artistic vision with technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement high-quality lighting setups to convey the artistic vision of the project.
- Design and apply textures for characters, environments, and objects, ensuring visual consistency.
- Collaborate closely with the art team to ensure textures meet the technical and aesthetic requirements of the project.
- Optimize textures and lighting for real-time rendering while maintaining visual quality.
- Work closely with programmers and animators to ensure that lighting integrates smoothly with other game systems.
- Troubleshoot lighting and texture-related issues during development, providing solutions that adhere to production timelines.
- Assist in post-production work, adjusting and refining lighting setups to ensure they meet the desired quality.
- Participate in daily stand-up meetings, contributing to task management and logging your work.
- Provide and receive constructive feedback, contributing to the continuous improvement of the team's output.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in lighting and texture work within the gaming or entertainment industry.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, Blender, Substance Painter, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of real-time rendering engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Knowledge of lighting techniques, including dynamic and baked lighting, and how they interact with various material types.
- Strong artistic eye with a deep understanding of color theory, light behavior, and texture creation.
- Ability to balance creative and technical considerations while adhering to performance optimization constraints.
- A strong portfolio showcasing your lighting and texturing work, particularly in game environments.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, feedback-driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PBR (Physically Based Rendering) texturing workflows.
- Familiarity with VFX and shader creation.
- Understanding of procedural texturing techniques.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and task management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
- Previous experience in a remote or distributed team environment is a plus.
