Senior Researcher
BPC Bioproducts Private Limited (Tradename: AMYLO) is a material science startup supported by Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. We develop bio-based substitutes for traditional plastics used in packaging applications. Our team comprises professionals with strong academic and business credentials.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual with 4-5 years of industrial experience in the field of material science to drive our new product development and research initiatives. Prior exposure to biopolymers, bioplastics, and biodegradable/compostable plastics is highly preferred. This role involves preparing compositions, conducting extrusion trials on lab-scale and industrial scale, characterising material properties, and finalisation for commercialization.
Compensation commensurate with market and with the option of participating in stock option pool for early employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience of industrial or academic research in the chemical or plastics industry.
- Preparation of compositions, conducting extrusion trials on lab-scale compounding extruder, characterisation of properties and study of trial results.
- Fundamental understanding of structure-property-relationship in the area of organic molecules and polymers
- Knowledge and experience of analytical characterization techniques for the interpretation of chemical structures of organic molecules/polymers and mechanical and thermal properties of polymers.
- Prior experience in taking new materials/ products to market.
- Assist in procurement, as needed. Contacts within the supplier ecosystem would be an added advantage.
Educational Qualification:
- Ph.D or Postdoc Fellowship in Material Science (polymer chemistry or polymer engineering) from top academic institutions.
Location:
- Office and lab located in North Bengaluru
- Travel may be required
