This hybrid role combines 20% technical operations —primarily supporting RHEL 9 upgrades —and 80% greenfield development , where you will design and build a new internal tool critical to streamlining operations.This position is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling complex infrastructure challenges, excels at automation, and thrives in building systems from scratch.Key Responsibilities80% – New Tool DevelopmentDesign, develop, and implement a new internal tool using modern engineering practices.Build scalable and robust Python-based APIs enabling smooth integration across systems.Integrate internal and third-party services through efficient API interactions.Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented Python code.Participate in peer code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.Contribute to the complete SDLC: requirement gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.20% – Technical Operations (RHEL 9 Upgrade Support)Work closely with the operations team to plan, test, and execute RHEL 9 upgrades across the infrastructure.Identify and resolve compatibility issues, performance bottlenecks, and operational risks.Develop automation scripts to streamline RHEL 9 deployment and configuration.Monitor system performance post-upgrade and troubleshoot issues proactively.Required Skills & ExperienceHands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).Strong Kubernetes and CI/CD pipeline promotion experience (Dev → UAT) is highly preferred.Strong expertise in Linux OS, specifically Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) .Proven experience in Python for backend development, scripting, and automation.Strong background in designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs .Expertise in API development and integrations with internal/external systems.Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines , version control (Git), and release management practices.Excellent problem-solving abilities and proactive troubleshooting mindset.Effective communication and collaboration skills for team-based environments.Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently when needed.Preferred QualificationsExperience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms like Spinnaker or Jenkins.Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).Prior experience in an SRE or DevOps role.
