Job Overview :We are looking for a highly experienced and technically proficient DB Specialist IBM AS400 professional to join our growing technology team. The ideal candidate should bring deep expertise in IBM i Series (AS400) systems, SQL/DB2, and legacy programming languages such as CL, RPG, and COBOL. This role demands a balance of strong technical proficiency and exceptional communication and organizational skills, as you will work directly with clients, manage multiple project tasks, and ensure the delivery of high-quality database solutions in line with project timelines and statements of work.Required Soft Skills :- We are seeking a highly motivated and self-organizing professional with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.- The candidate must excel at time management, ensuring deliverables are consistently met within established deadlines.- Should be adaptable and thrive in dynamic environments, capable of handling evolving business and technical requirements.- Must demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong attention to detail.- Should possess strong stakeholder management skills and be able to manage customer expectations effectively in accordance with the statement of work (SOW).- A strong sense of accountability and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals is essential.Required Hard Skills :- The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation of technical expertise and hands-on experience in the following areas :- 8+ years of experience on IBM i Series (AS400), including the use of programming languages such as CL, RPG, and COBOL for developing, maintaining, and optimizing system applications.- 5+ years of experience using SQL/DB2 on IBM i Series, with extensive knowledge of system catalogues, database objects, and schema structures.- Expertise in converting DDS Physical Files to DDL Tables and implementing SQL long names, ensuring system modernization and compatibility with SQL-based environments.- Strong understanding of how to generate a Logical File Surrogate and analyze its impact on RPG programs, ensuring system performance and integrity.- Proven 5+ years of experience working directly with clients, gathering requirements, translating business needs into technical deliverables, and providing ongoing support and maintenance.- At least 5+ years of experience managing project tasks and timelines, including planning, execution, and monitoring to ensure successful delivery within scope and budget.Additional Desired Attributes :- Deep understanding of IBM i Series environments, database optimization, and system performance tuning.- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and functional teams, providing expert guidance on database architecture and migration strategies.- Strong documentation skills to maintain system procedures, configuration details, and change logs.- Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and technical upgrades in IBM i Series infrastructure.Summary :This position is ideal for a seasoned IBM AS400 professional who combines deep technical expertise in DB2, SQL, and legacy programming languages (CL, RPG, COBOL) with strong project management and client engagement capabilities.
