About the Role
As a Land Legal Expert , you will ensure the smooth acquisition, compliance, and legal processes required for renewable energy projects in Tamil Nadu. This role plays a pivotal part in enabling the seamless development of renewable energy infrastructure, directly contributing to a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities
Land Due Diligence & Acquisition
Conduct and prepare title due diligence for private and government lands for renewable energy projects.
Review key land documents: record of rights, sale deeds, mutations , and genealogical studies to ensure clear title and possession.
Perform independent searches at sub-registrar and revenue offices.
Supervise land surveys, demarcation , and land-use changes.
Legal Documentation & Approvals
Draft and review key legal documents, including sale deeds, lease deeds, novation deeds , and deeds of adherence.
Collaborate with external counsel to finalize Title Search Reports (TSRs).
Obtain required permissions for land owned and exemptions for stamp duty and land ceilings.
Legal Representation & Dispute Resolution
Represent the organization in revenue courts (Tahsildar, SDM, ADM, Collector) and judicial courts (District and High Court).
Initiate and defend legal cases, protecting the organization’s interests in all land-related matters.
Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with lenders for creating security interest on land through equitable or registered mortgages.
Build and manage networks with land facilitators for land scouting, acquisition, and compliance.
Oversee the management of land records and documentation.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
2–3 years of experience in land-related legal/compliance roles (preferably in the Renewable Energy sector).
Strong knowledge of land and revenue laws , especially in Tamil Nadu.
Proven experience representing organizations before legal and revenue authorities.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and documentation skills.
Proficiency in Tamil (preferred) and English for liaising with local authorities.
