We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle DB Migration Specialist to lead and execute complex database migration projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Oracle database technologies, migration methodologies, and best practices. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing seamless database migrations, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.


Key Responsibilities:


Migration Planning and Strategy:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing Oracle database environments, including hardware, software, and data configurations.
  • Develop comprehensive migration strategies, including data extraction, transformation, loading (ETL) processes, and cutover plans.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Estimate project timelines, resource requirements, and costs.


Database Assessment and Optimisation:

  • Analyse database performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend optimisation techniques.
  • Perform database health checks to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Optimise database configurations, including storage, indexing, and partitioning.


Migration Execution and Monitoring:

  • Execute database migration activities, including data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Monitor migration progress, identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with other teams, such as network, security, and application teams, to ensure smooth migration.


Post-Migration Validation and Support:

  • Validate data integrity and system functionality after migration.
  • Provide post-migration support, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for future reference and troubleshooting.


Must-Have Primary Skills:

  • Experience in migration of Oracle database from on-premises to cloud
  • Ability to assess Oracle DB to Azure Cloud based on given inputs/design
  • Experience with tools like RMAN, Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle ZDM, Oracle Disaster Recovery (Oracle Data Guard)
  • Experience with large-size databases and knowledge of Linux servers
  • Experience in cloud migration and strategy planning. Understanding of migration processes and ability to decide cloud migration strategies
  • Knowledge of Oracle DB connectivity with Oracle applications and middleware like WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat
  • Experience in configuring HA & DR for Oracle DB
  • Willingness to suggest Oracle upgrade scenarios based on requirements
  • Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
  • Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) installation and configuration
  • Knowledge of configuring Fast-Start Failover with Oracle Data Guard, Oracle GoldenGate, and Oracle ZDM


Required Skills and Experience:


Oracle Database Expertise:

  • Deep understanding of Oracle Database architecture, administration, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and other relevant scripting languages.
  • Experience with Oracle Data Pump, RMAN, and other database utilities.


Migration Tools and Techniques:

  • Experience with database migration tools, such as Oracle Data Pump, GoldenGate, and SQL Loader.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data transformation techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud migration tools and services (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS, Azure).


Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and identify root causes.


Communication and Collaboration:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Project Management:

  • Experience in managing database migration projects, including planning, scheduling, and risk management.
