We are seeking an experienced Lead Database Engineer to join our dynamic team at Mrikal. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance database systems that power our cutting-edge digital solutions across various industries. You will lead database architecture decisions, manage a team of database professionals, and ensure optimal performance of our mission-critical database infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
End-to-End ownership of database infrastructure and performance
Manage and mentor a team of database administrators
Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable database solutions
Develop and implement database strategies for high-volume transactional systems
Create and maintain disaster recovery and backup procedures
Optimize database performance through monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning
Implement robust security measures and access control policies
Establish and enforce database standards and best practices
Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and query performance
Manage database upgrades, patches, and migrations
Monitor database performance and respond to security incidents
Develop automation scripts for routine database maintenance tasks
Create and maintain technical documentation
Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical database issues
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Engineer
Proven experience with high-volume transactional database systems
Strong expertise in Postgre SQL administration and optimization
Experience managing and scaling database systems processing millions of transactions daily
Proficiency in database backup, recovery, and high availability solutions
Strong knowledge of database security best practices
Experience with database monitoring and performance tuning tools
Expertise in SQL query optimization and troubleshooting
Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (Python, Bash, etc.)
Experience with version control systems (Git)
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Preferred Expertise:
Experience with database clustering and replication technologies
Knowledge of cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL)
Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with database proxy solutions (Pg Bouncer, HAProxy)
Understanding of distributed database systems
Knowledge of No SQL databases (Mongo DB, Cassandra)
Experience with database migration tools and strategies
Certification in relevant database technologies
Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes
