Position Overview
Open English is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead/Senior Java Software Engineer with some experience in Python/Django and Generative AI to join our team. As a Java Lead/Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building applications/APIs leveraging cutting-edge Generative AI and Large Language Model technologies. You will be taking charge of designing, implementing, and optimizing AI initiatives within our company.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver innovative AI solutions that meet business needs within time and cost constraints.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Research, design, code, document, and test new AI-related solutions.
Ensure the highest software quality and performance, conducting code reviews, design reviews, and performance scans.
Develop and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications and APIs.
Work with the Architect and Project Manager within the organization to implement agreed-upon designs.
Assist in the enforcement of development deadlines and schedules under Agile Methodologies.
Create and implement automated unit test scripts.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
7+ years of software development experience building, maintaining, documenting, and supporting highly scalable and highly available REST APIs.
5+ years developing using Spring frameworks (Spring 5, Spring Boot) and Hibernate.
1+ years experience in AI development, working with Gen AI technologies (prompt engineering, text-to-speech(TTS), speech-to-text(STT), etc..), machine learning, personalization, etc…
Strong programming skills in Java (JDK 9+), with a deep understanding of the language's ecosystem and best practices.
Experience in distributed multi-tier systems and client-server architectures is required.
RDBMS experience with databases like Postgres, My SQL, etc.
Experience with Maven
Knowledge of Jenkins or similar tools, CI/CD flows.
Experience with unit testing, particularly with JUnit, and mocking frameworks, i.e Mockito.
Fluency in English language.

Experience with Open AI API
PS: Working hours overlapping the US time zone (from 6 AM US EST to 2 PM US EST).
