Location: Kolkata (Full-Time, From Office) Work Experience: Minimum 5 years in professional writing/editing, preferably in development sector Compensation: Up to Annual CTC ₹10 Lakhs (based on experience and output) Language Proficiency: English (fluent, verbal & written); Hindi/Bengali preferred Position Summary SwitchON Foundation is seeking a skilled and passionate Content & Communications Specialist to strengthen our storytelling, donor engagement, and outreach efforts. This is a full-time, from office role based in Kolkata . The role involves crafting human-centered narratives that translate complex programmatic themes such as climate change, gender, and livelihoods into engaging, accessible content. The specialist will work closely with the Communications and Program teams to ensure consistent organizational voice and impactful storytelling across reports, blogs, newsletters, donor documents, and social media campaigns. Key Responsibilities Content Creation & Editing Write, edit, and proofread high-quality programmatic and organizational content (reports, blogs, newsletters, donor-facing documents, campaign collaterals). Ensure consistency in tone, grammar, and organizational voice across content. Support field-based documentation of programs related to climate action, livelihoods, and youth skilling. Develop scripts for multimedia content including videos, podcasts, and campaigns. Social Media & Website Content Create and curate engaging content for social media platforms and the organizational website. Collaborate with the design team to develop visual storytelling content. Support campaign execution with strong editorial inputs. Coordination & Content Planning Work with the Communications team to maintain and contribute to monthly content calendars. Coordinate with project teams to gather updates, data, and stories for content creation. Qualifications, Experience & Skills Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Development Studies, or related fields. Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional writing/editing experience, preferably in the development sector. Proven portfolio of published stories, reports, or campaign content. Exceptional storytelling and editing skills. Proficiency in field documentation and interviewing. Ability to manage deadlines and multiple content requests independently. Proficiency in MS Word, Google Docs, Canva, and social media platforms. Knowledge of SEO writing or video scriptwriting (nice-to-have). Language Proficiency: English (fluent, verbal & written) is essential. Hindi or Bengali preferred for translation/localization. Travel Requirements ~ Minimal travel may be required for field visits, as per assignment. Compensation & Engagement Up to Annual CTC ₹10 Lakhs (based on experience and output) Nature of Engagement: Full-time, from the office. Location: Kolkata (Office-based).
