Job Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Search Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced search features using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.

  • Search Solution Design and Implementation: You will architect and develop custom analysers, tokenisers, and scoring algorithms to improve search relevance.
  • Index and Template Management: You will create and maintain index templates, mappings, and lifecycle policies to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability.
  • Query Pipeline Development: You will build and optimize custom query builders and search pipelines tailored to complex business requirements.
  • AII/ML/LLM Powered Search: You will leverage LLMs and AI to enhance data enrichment and search relevance.
  • API Development: You will develop and maintain robust, scalable APIs for search using Python (FastAPI).
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: You will lead efforts in integration, regression, and performance testing to ensure reliability and accuracy of search features.
  • DevOps and Automation: You will automate deployment and management of search infrastructure, including index templates and search pipelines.
  • Collaboration: You will work closely with data engineers and product teams to deliver high-quality search experiences.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in production environments.
  • Expertise: Expert level expertise in Python, with experience building APIs (preferably FastAPI).
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of search concepts: analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, custom scoring, and query DSL.
  • Skills: Proficiency in designing and optimising search pipelines and custom query builders.
  • Practical Experience: Must have practical hands-on experience developing software using AI-assisted tools and workflows.
  • Strong Background: Strong testing background: integration, regression, and performance testing.
  • DevOps Skills: DevOps skills: automation, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
  • Excellent Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
