This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently. You will be responsible for interpreting standards, processes, and procedures, making technical decisions, and ensuring compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
Responsibilities:Performance- Manage certification projects concurrently, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety requirements and achieving completion within time frames and cost deadlines.
- Handle a wide spectrum of projects, including complex ones, generating high revenue levels.
- Deliver assigned projects/tests within agreed timescales, with a high level of accuracy.
- Accurately manage project costs within the agreed budget.
- Maintain good productivity in line with company expectations.
- Review the work of others, ensuring technical competence in accordance with divisional quality documents.
- Perform witness testing, ensuring technical competence in accordance with divisional quality documents.
- Review test data and reports, authorizing the application of the CSA Mark, and preparing Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance.
- Provide clients with assistance in solving problems/failures without divulging proprietary information.
- Work with sales to support current clients and develop new client opportunities to support growth.
- Prepare project quotations for cost and time.
- Explain the different product certification programs available to clients and the requirements for control of production.
- Perform testing within established QD guidelines.
- Prepare Test Lab Work Orders and Special Testing Documentation, including details regarding applicable sections of relevant standards, test sample plan, data collection methods, and tables.
- Provide necessary guidance to Lab Technicians to ensure proper application of requirements and data collection methods.
- Demonstrate experience in performing common testing within CSA laboratories.
- Make field trips and witness test work at manufacturer's facilities as required.
- Subject to internal audits for compliance and competence.
- Participate in CSA Group Continuous Improvement and Innovation projects.
- Make recommendations on new programs/equipment to expand core capabilities.
- Generate ideas to improve laboratory safety.
- Become fully knowledgeable in all national/international standards through research of standards, documentation, bulletins, and technical articles in the area of specialty.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with likely 5 years of job-related experience/Diploma in Engineering with likely 7 years of job-related experience.
- Thorough knowledge of safety standards for North America, Canada & IEC, particularly for Medical devices/Industrial Products & testing procedures.
- Some experience in TIC (Ideally within Medical/Industrial), but may consider applicants with a manufacturing background.
- Understanding and application of Risk Management concept for a medical equipment.
- Knowledge of CSA certification programs and services applicable to a variety of equipment.
- Ideally to come from a competitor with relevant knowledge/experience of this field/sector.
