We are seeking an expert technologist who is passionate about solving large-scale complex computer engineering problems. This individual will build strong competencies in data structures and algorithms, with a technical fascination for how everything ties together.

Our tech stack includes Java / Kafka / Spark / Oracle / React / Key Value stores. To achieve our goals, we leverage the advances in technology and science to address our business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Practice technical design, develop new functionality, and maintain existing components
  • Dive into PayPal's world-class compliance systems and algorithms, working side by side with product and engineering teams
  • Contribute to efforts to fight against regulatory violations globally, using advanced algorithms and technology, deploying code to live systems
  • Design and implement highly available scalable back-end software components in Java
  • Develop automated tests, deliver high-quality code to production within a short development cycle in the Continuous Integration environment
  • Participate in design, code reviews, documentation, fix bugs, resolve production issues

Requirements:

  • Solid foundational knowledge of computer engineering and intellectual curiosity to understand the business
  • Strong OOP skills, ability to analyze requirements. Passion for developing robust scalable software systems
  • At least 5+ years of solid server-side development experience
  • Conduct design and code reviews, fix bugs, resolve production issues
  • Solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms
  • Experience working with relational databases
  • Highly motivated goal-driven can-do attitude to embrace challenges and changes
  • Innovative entrepreneurial team player ability to multi-task
  • Experience with REST APIs Web Services Unit Testing functional testing
  • Agile development experience is a plus

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with Java Spark front-end technologies
  • Business rule management system experience such as Drools or similar
