Job Title: Senior Database Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in designing, optimizing, and maintaining database infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement PostgreSQL schemas, structures, indexes, functions, triggers, and views to ensure high-performance querying.
  • Collaborate with development teams to architect and support application database needs, ensuring seamless integration and efficient data management.
  • Develop optimized SQL & PL/pgSQL code to improve query efficiency and optimize database performance.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and implement strategies to enhance query efficiency and overall system performance.
  • Lead database migrations and routine data maintenance tasks to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Build scalable clusters, hot-standby, and failover setups to ensure high availability and minimize downtime.
  • Manage backups, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies using tools like Barman to ensure business continuity.
  • Deploy and optimize PostgreSQL on AWS RDS for high availability and scalability.
  • Handle Linux server administration and troubleshoot system-level issues to ensure smooth operation.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate deployment, monitoring, CI/CD (Docker, Kubernetes) and ensure seamless integration with other systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL development, including strong SQL and PL/pgSQL skills.
  • Expertise in AWS RDS with PostgreSQL, including deployment, high availability, scaling, and disaster recovery.
  • Familiarity with backup/recovery tools like Barman.
  • Experience with connection pooling (e.g., pgBouncer).
  • Proficiency in Linux server environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of JSON handling, query optimization, indexes, and isolation levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with JavaScript, Perl, jQuery, or CSS.
  • Cloud certification (AWS Database/SysOps).
  • Exposure to monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.
