Highly Skilled Senior DBA

We are seeking a skilled Senior Database Administrator to manage and administer technology in database specialization. The successful candidate will have expertise in managing and maintaining Cloudera Data Platform clusters, Apache Kafka, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems.

• The ideal candidate will have experience with Shell scripting and Ansible for deployment, monitoring, and configuration management.
• This role involves collaborating with data engineers and developers to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity across platforms.
• A key responsibility of this position is implementing and maintaining security best practices across all data platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Performing analysis on existing database systems to recommend improvements.
2. Collaborating with the IT Manager to establish database security structures and ensuring Sox compliance.
3. Managing and maintaining Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters, ensuring high availability and performance.
4. Administering and monitoring Apache Kafka (open-source) clusters, including topic management, performance tuning, and security.
5. Performing database administration for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
6. Developing and maintaining automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible for deployment, monitoring, and configuration management.
7. Collaborating with data engineers and developers to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity across platforms.
8. Implementing and maintaining security best practices across all data platforms.
9. Troubleshooting and resolving issues across the data stack in a timely manner.
10. Fixing ongoing issues, acting as an individual contributor, and taking full ownership of the environment.
11. Creating and maintaining database access systems, including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers.
12. Administering database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network.
13. Tuning and optimizing database objects.
14. Providing 24x7 on call support.
15. Providing technical input to solution development plans and concept documents.
16. Demonstrating understanding of business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT owned solutions.
17. Communicating effectively in written and verbal form in a cross-functional setting with business partners.
18. Sharing knowledge and actively mentoring less experienced IT Administrators.
19. Performing and planning major version upgrades.
20. Designing and implementing effective monitoring of enterprise systems.
21. Tuning systems using experience and deep knowledge of the area.
22. Foreseeing risks and communicating and mitigating those before problems arise.
23. Documenting technical designs and procedures for team library.
24. Planning and managing technical projects involving other teams.
25. Communicating technology effectively to non-technical associates and management.
26. Recognizing and understanding technology impacts within the business.
27. Contributing to technical research on new technologies, processes or procedures with a desire to continuously learn new technologies.
