Senior Network Support Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned network engineer to join our team as a Senior Network Support Engineer.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of networking fundamentals and have the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in dynamic customer environments.

This role requires expertise in balancing communication needs for each customer case, strong analytical skills, and the ability to triage issues effectively.

  • This is a high-impact role that involves working closely with other members of the Customer Engineering team and software/hardware development teams to diagnose problems and communicate them in multiple technical contexts.
  • We are looking for an individual who can stay up-to-date on the latest features and trending technologies, participate in team communication, and keep abreast of enterprise and networking trends.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing comprehensive support to customers by troubleshooting and resolving network-related issues.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to identify and address recurring technical issues.
  • Developing and implementing knowledge base articles to improve product quality.
  • Working closely with the Tier 1 team to provide mentorship and guidance on complex troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Investigating areas of misalignment or critical dead-ends and providing suggestions to mitigate them.
  • Analyzing packet captures using Wireshark/tcpdump to resolve sophisticated networking issues.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A strong understanding of TCP/IP and OSI model, IP Address and Subnetting, ARP, DHCP, DNS, POE (IEEE 802.3af/at/bt), ICMP, IPv4 & IPv6, and IEEE 802.1Q trunking.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting utilities such as Ping, Traceroute, and Wireshark.
  • Proven work experience in troubleshooting complex and dynamic customer environments.
  • Expertise in balancing communication needs for each customer case.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to triage issues effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly articulate matters to customers.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in computer networking-related problem-solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting.
  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science/IT preferred but not mandatory.
  • Networking certifications a plus.
