HPC Administrator Job Description

This role involves the administration of high-performance computing (HPC) and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) clusters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer HPC and VDI clusters to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Manage user accounts for HPC onboarding and offboarding, ensuring seamless access and secure authentication.
  • Create and maintain Amazon Machine Image (AMI) images in AMI accounts, streamlining the provisioning process.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems on HPC clusters, optimizing system stability and performance.
  • SUPPORT HPC necessary components and native services by coordinating with respective providers, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide AWS Managed Active Directory support and management, enhancing collaboration and security.
  • Ensure continuous upgrades to the HPC platform and related components, driving innovation and improvement.
  • Implement and maintain necessary compliance controls, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate new technologies into the existing infrastructure, fostering a culture of innovation and experimentation.
  • Progressively administer HPC systems in a Redhat/CentOS Linux environment, staying up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices.
  • Utilize AWS Cloud formation templates to build infrastructure for HPC and storage, increasing efficiency and reducing costs.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in HPC administration, with expertise in cluster management, user account management, and Linux operating system configuration.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services, including Amazon Machine Images, AWS Managed Active Directory, and AWS Cloud formation templates.
  • Strong understanding of high-performance computing concepts, including parallel processing, distributed systems, and data storage.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with ability to troubleshoot complex issues and optimize system performance.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
