Cloud Cost Estimation Specialist

Your primary responsibility as our Cloud Cost Estimation Specialist will be to assist in the development and maintenance of accurate cost estimation models for our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) initiatives. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and finance teams to ensure that our cloud usage is managed efficiently and effectively.

  • Cost Estimation: Develop detailed cost estimates for GCP resources and services based on project requirements, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Pricing Analysis: Analyze GCP pricing structures to identify opportunities for cost optimization and improve financial efficiency.
  • Budgeting Support: Provide critical budgeting support by developing detailed cost breakdowns for GCP initiatives, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Forecasting: Design and maintain robust forecasting models to predict GCP usage and associated costs, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Scenario Analysis: Perform what-if analyses to evaluate the financial implications of various architectural or resource decisions.
  • Collaboration: Foster close collaboration with cross-functional teams to validate assumptions and refine cost estimates.
  • Reporting: Generate regular and ad-hoc reports on GCP cost trends and potential risks, ensuring stakeholders are well-informed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with a focus on cost estimation and financial modeling.
  • GCP Expertise: Familiarity with GCP services and pricing models, with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, and GCP's Pricing Calculator, with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Attention to Detail: The ability to work with complex datasets and maintain attention to detail throughout the analysis process.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, computer science, or a related field, with certifications in GCP or FinOps being a plus.
  • Experience: Experience in GCP cost management, financial analysis, or similar roles is highly preferred.
