Printed Circuit Board Design Engineer Job

The primary function of a PCB design engineer is to create detailed fabrication drawings of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and Gerber files. These drawings must accurately represent the electronic schematics and adhere to industry standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Reading and interpreting electrical/electronic schematics to understand circuit board layouts and signal integrity requirements.
  • Developing detailed fabrication drawings that cover design analysis, notes, and guidelines followed during PCB manufacturing.
  • Architecting, designing, and developing high-performance/bandwidth PCBs using advanced software tools.
  • Ensuring accurate transfer of schematic net-list design, ID, and ME design into physical PCB design based on electrical considerations such as signal integrity, power integrity, ID, mechanical integrity, EMC-EMI, and safety.
  • Managing PCB documentation, including fabrication and assembly drawings, Gerber files.
  • Coordinating and approving PCB layout to ensure compliance with company design standards.
  • Preparing Bill of Materials (BOM) and fabrication documentation following revision control procedures.
  • Bringing up and testing of PCBs and auxiliary electronics.
  • Developing PCB layout concepts that are in line with products involving efficient manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

A relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Design, Electronics Engineering, Embedded System Engineering, ECE, or ETC is required.

Desired Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in using two or more PCB designing tools.
  • Familiarity with KiCAD, ISIS, ARES, Allegro, or similar industry-standard tools.
  • Knowledge of PCB failure modes and reliability in extreme environments.
  • Strong knowledge of digital and analog circuit design fundamentals.
  • Strong logic/board debug and analytical skills.
