Sustainability Manager Job Description

As a Sustainability Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing sustainability initiatives across various business units.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sustainability Strategy Development: Design and execute comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with corporate objectives, involving functional units such as the Innovation Department.
  • Greenhouse Gas/Energy Focus: Monitor and execute sub-aspects related to GHG/Energy topics under the guidance of the VP Reg. Affairs & Sustainability.
  • Global Sustainability Data Management: Maintain and develop environmental-sustainability data collection tools across global operations.
  • Sustainability Reporting: Support the preparation of sustainability reports and annual reports with the VP Reg. Affairs & Sustainability.
  • Sustainability Communication: Translate sustainability-relevant data into communication content for various stakeholders.
  • Carbon Footprint/Life Cycle Assessments: Communicate life cycle assessment and carbon footprint studies to relevant audiences.
  • Sustainability Compliance: Research and monitor sustainability obligations for the organization, including relevant regulations.
Required Expertise:
  • University degree in a technical field (e.g., natural/environmental science, engineering) with 5+ years' experience.
  • Development and implementation of sustainability strategies, including setting sustainability targets.
  • Solid understanding of sustainability data management, greenhouse gas accounting, and relevant standards (GRI, GHG Protocol).
  • Experience with global sustainability initiatives, regulations, and rating systems.
  • Strong interest or solid understanding of production processes, operations, raw materials, products, and societal contributions of an industrial company.
  • Solid understanding of global trends and societal challenges in the area of sustainability.
  • Business fluent in spoken and written English (C-level).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Chemical or environmental master's degree; University degree in a technical field.
