Leadership Opportunity: Wholesale Risk Model Development

The role involves leading the development of wholesale risk models and collaborating with senior management to implement risk governance and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a Centre of Excellence for Wholesale Rating Models, driving innovation and excellence in model development and validation.
  • Provide thought leadership in model development and contribute to best practices, staying updated on regulatory and industry developments.
  • Independently research and develop innovative solutions, incorporating emerging trends and technologies.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the credit lifecycle, preparing presentations and communicating effectively with senior management.
  • Review financial spreading logic in newly developed credit lifecycle systems, ensuring governance and audit readiness.

Technical Deliverables:

  • Design and implement end-to-end processes for development, validation, and lifecycle management of Wholesale Rating Models.
  • Develop and validate Corporate/Wholesale Rating Models, including Large Corporate, Mid Corporate, SME, Sovereign, FI, HNWI, Project Finance, and Specialized Lending.
  • Explore new approaches for rating model development for low default portfolios, leveraging data analytics and machine learning.
  • Master Rating Scale (MRS) calibration, ensuring accurate and reliable ratings.

Team Leadership:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of modelers and consultants, driving capability building and continuous learning.

Model Monitoring:

  • Outline goals for model monitoring, considering accuracy and other relevant metrics based on the model purpose.
  • Determine expected performance of respective models on historical data, continuously assessing model performance.
  • Implement monitoring tools to assess input data quality and predictions, communicating model performance to relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Strong foundation in Statistics and Mathematics, with hands-on experience in developing and validating Wholesale Rating Models (PD, LGD, EAD).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python, data analysis and visualization using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Hold a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of progressive, multi-discipline risk management experience within banking.
  • Deep understanding of risk management concepts and methodologies gained through development and practical application.
