Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and manage Cosmos DB accounts, databases, and containers.
  • Monitor Cosmos DB performance, optimize queries, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Implement and manage data modeling strategies within Cosmos DB to support application requirements.
  • Handle data migrations, backups, and recovery operations for Cosmos DB instances.
  • Configure and maintain Cosmos DB security, including access control and encryption.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure optimal integration of Cosmos DB into applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to Cosmos DB performance, availability, or data integrity.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Cosmos DBA or in a similar NoSQL database administration role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB.
  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA.
  • Solid understanding of NoSQL database concepts and data modeling principles.
  • Experience with Cosmos DB API choices (e.g., SQL API, MongoDB API, Cassandra API).
  • Proficiency in monitoring and optimizing Cosmos DB performance.
  • Familiarity with Azure portal and Azure command-line tools for managing Cosmos DB.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with other Azure services (Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service).
  • Knowledge of other NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Certifications related to Azure or Cosmos DB.
